Beyond the Forms: Why Your VA Claim Needs a 'Plan of Action'

    A Starting Place for Veterans

Most veterans don't know where to start with their VA claim, and the biggest problem is the paperwork. A lot of claims get denied for simple reasons—they use the wrong form, they date it wrong, or they forget to fill out one thing on the form that makes the VA say, "What do you want?".

But the real work isn't just filling out a form correctly. It's all the preparation you do beforehand. If you don't have a strategy, you're just hoping for the best. That's why I don't start with the forms. I start with a 'Plan of Action'.

So, what is a 'Plan of Action'?

It's simple. After I do an initial consultation to find out what you need, I put forth a plan with the exact steps you need to take to build your case.

The plan of action is me telling you, "You're going to go see your doctor about this. You're going to go get these medical records from Kaiser. You're going to go see the physical therapist three or four times before you call me back." All these things have to be completed. If you go back and forth with me, I'm wasting my time and you didn't do your part, does that make sense?

This plan is what strengthens your claim before the VA ever sees it. It can be the difference between getting the assistance you need and missing out because of a lack of information.

My Role is to Be Your Consultant

I want to be very clear about what I do. I am a consultant that is helping you to prepare your paperwork to submit to the VA.

My job is to give you that plan of action and then stick with you until your claim is submitted. Anything you need, any questions you have along the way, you can call me. It's not like I just say goodbye. You have to be thorough. I always tell people, don't just ask for one thing. No, you want all of it. Let them deny you.

    Find Your Starting Point
